Service Project - Sat 22 Nov 9-12 Rye Natuer Center

Posted on Nov 19 2014 - 4:40pm

From Jack Smith -
This Saturday, November 22nd I would love some help finishing my Eagle Project at the Rye Nature Center. The goal of the project has been to remove a fence surrounding an area near the RNC building, tear out invasive species, and spread wood chips over the area.

The final phase of the project--spreading wood chips--is what I need help with, and I would love some volunteers from 9 am to 12. Community service forms, snacks, and water will be provided, and if anyone has a wheel barrow they are able to bring then that would also be great.
I look forward to seeing you there! Please register to come help (if you can) on the Troop website.
PLEASE NOTE: there is a bee hive in the area, so if you have any allergy to bees at all, this is not the volunteer opportunity for you. Since it will be chilly this weekend, the bees will be hibernating or very inactive, and we do not expect any problems, but I want to be safe. The bee area is also roped off for safety. Work gloves and eye protection will also be provided.

Aviation Merit Badge - 18 Nov 7pm

Posted on Nov 17 2014 - 3:42pm

Mr. Newbold has scheduled the first Aviation MB session for Tuesday 18 November at 7pm - right before the troop meeting.  Please see the calendar entry for the outline of what is to be covered and what interested scouts need to do to prepare for the meeting.  The trip to the White Plains airport is being scheduled.

Eagle Project Help - Saturday 15 Nov 9am-12pm

Posted on Nov 11 2014 - 8:58pm

From Jack Smith!

This Saturday, November 15th I would love some help working on my Eagle Project at the Rye Nature Center. The goal of the project is to remove a fence surrounding an area near the RNC building, tear out invasive species, and spread wood chips over the area.

The fence has been removed and the phase I need help with this weekend is pulling out invasive plants and spreading wood chips. I would love some volunteers from 9 am to 12. Community service forms, pizza, and water will be provided, and if anyone has a wheel barrow they are able to bring then that would also be great.

PLEASE NOTE: there is a bee hive in the area, so if you have any allergy to bees at all, this is not the volunteer opportunity for you. Since it will be 40 degrees this weekend, the bees will be hibernating or very inactive, and we do not expect any problems, but I want to be safe. The bee area is also roped off for safety. Work gloves and eye protection will also be provided.
