Dear Troop 2:

I am happy to report that the Northern Tier crew has returned safe and sound from the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness of Northern Minnesota!  We had an amazing time, paddling about 65 miles through some of the most spectacular lakes I have ever seen.  What a wonderful experience for these young men, and for the old men who accompanied them!

Crews from our troop have now experienced all three of the BSA High Adventure base camps: Sea Base in Florida, Philmont in New Mexico, and now Northern Tier in Minnesota. These trips are physically challenging, but they are also life-changing experiences for the boys. They see the wilderness in ways that cannot be experienced on an overnight in Harriman State Park, they grow into more confident and competent young men, and they share an experience with their friends that will bind them together forever.

We have a reservation for another trip to Sea Base in February 2015 during the school vacation week, and we have a reservation for a second visit to Philmont in July of 2015. I would strongly encourage all of you to consider joining one of these treks. If your son will be 14 at the time of the trek, or 13 and an 8th grade graduate, he qualifies. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.  Here's a link to my photos from Minnesota:  https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jhxf1wvem4l6n8h/AABIqMj7pEkl3dF-m5Y4D4U2a
